Lando Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, trailing 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he lost control at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before sliding over the escape zone, and was lucky to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619 seconds slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
