It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

It needed until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batters to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to create her newest gem.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Many contend the argument supporting championship match pressure. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in training, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed I lacked timing completely," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your fighting spirit activate and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was dismissed Australia required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the confidence to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can succeed."

These statements will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament should hear.

In recent days a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph coming after success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed thoughts of retirement, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as captain.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
